CreateMaps is an alpha/prototype. This page summarizes the public data and component attribution visible to alpha testers; it is not legal advice.

OpenStreetMap Data

CreateMaps/PBFX datasets are commonly built from OpenStreetMap data. OpenStreetMap data is © OpenStreetMap contributors and is available under the Open Database License (ODbL). See the official OpenStreetMap copyright page.

Maps, API responses, exports, geocoding indices, routing graphs, and PBFX datasets may be derived from OpenStreetMap data. If you redistribute derived datasets or exports, you are responsible for complying with the relevant ODbL attribution and share-alike obligations. Public map views should show visible OSM attribution near the map or in the customary attribution location.

Exports and Derived Data

GeoJSON, CSV, vector tiles, screenshots, rendered maps, generated route data, geocoding responses, and PBFX subsets can contain or be derived from OSM or other source data. Their downstream use may trigger attribution, notice, share-alike, or redistribution obligations depending on the source data and use case.

External Data Sources

Some map views may use additional external sources, such as generalized water polygons, country boundaries, terrain, or customer-provided datasets. These sources may have their own licenses and attribution requirements. CreateMaps should treat such sources as named data sources with explicit metadata before production use.

Software Components

The CreateMaps prototype uses third-party components such as MapLibre GL JS, nlohmann/json, cpp-httplib, protozero/vtzero, Clipper2, and shapelib. These components remain subject to their respective licenses. A fuller third-party notice file should be kept with any distributed SDK, binary, or source package. See Third-party notices.

CreateMaps Source Code

The public alpha website does not by itself grant a license to the CreateMaps/PBFX source code, server components, datasets, generated indexes, or SDK binaries. Any open-source, mixed-source, commercial, or evaluation licensing terms should be published separately before distributing source code, binaries, SDKs, or customer datasets.

Alpha Scope

Routing, geocoding, natural-language query generation, and external-source handling are experimental. The alpha service is provided for testing and feedback, not for safety-critical, legal, emergency, navigation, or production decisions. Please verify generated results before operational use.
